MLX Wireless - One More Reason to Love Technology
If you ever sat in front of a property in your overheated car wondering where your clients were, you know you love your cell phone. If you sat in your office waiting for the latest listings to arrive via fax – or worse, in this afternoon’s mail – you know you love the internet. Now, MLX Wireless takes another step to making your job easier and gives you more reasons to love technology.
MLX Wireless lets you access MLS listings, Hotsheets, agent data and more anywhere that you have cell phone access. You can immediately pull up details on any listed property, cross check data, find listings for your clients through a full-featured search anywhere.
Ever been showing a property and heard, “Honey, remember that house we saw with a For Sale sign over on – what street was that? Maple? Something with Maple in it…” Imagine being able to tap a few buttons and pull up all the listings that might fit. Being able to show a picture and ask, “Is this the one? Would you like to take a look at it now?” With MLX Wireless, it can be that easy to slide into a sale.
MLX Wireless is a fully wireless version of the MLS online system. It allows you to log in and check listings, search for properties, view property details – including photos, find important contact details for other agents and agencies – essentially, it lets you take your office on the road with you.
Maybe you’ve seen flyers about MLX Wireless, or heard other agents talking about it, but weren’t sure whether it was something you could use. Maybe you had some questions about how it works, or wondered how you’d use it. Here’s some info that will help you make your decision about using MLX Wireless.
MLX Wireless is award-winning realty software.
In 2005, MLX Wireless was voted #3 in Inman’s list of top real estate tech tools. The two tools listed above it? Google Earth and HomePages.com. That puts MLX Wireless into some pretty good company.
MLX Wireless is provided free to Mid-Florida MLS members.
If you’re a member in good standing with Mid-Florida Regional MLS, all you have to do is register for your free account. There’s no software to buy or download, nothing to install. If you can use a web browser on your cell phone or wireless device, you can use MLX Wireless. To use MLX Wireless you will need to activate your free account. To activate your account, log into MLXchange, go to the Resource section, under Service & Tools, and click on MLX Wireless Registration, from there you can follow the instructions on registering your account.
You do need a wireless device that can access MLX Wireless.
That’s not quite as hard as it sounds. If you have a Blackberry, Treo or one of many other HTML compatible Smartphone models, you can access MLX Wireless. Compatible phones include BlackBerry’s running on operating system 3.7 or higher, Palm Treo 600/650/700, and phones using Pocket PC. In general, if you can access Google on your cell phone or wireless mobile device, you can access MLX. Want to use the same phone for both your Ekey and MLX Wireless, you’ll find a list of compatible wireless devices at the end of the article.
In addition, you’ll need to have a wireless data account in order to use the MLX Wireless system. The charges for data transfer are not included in the free MLX wireless account, but they’re also not that expensive. In fact, depending on your wireless carrier, you may be able to get unlimited data usage for around $30 a month. If you receive email on your wireless device, then you probably have a data usage account. Your wireless carrier can tell you how much data usage your account allows.
The MLX Wireless interface is very user friendly.
Logging onto MLX is as easy as navigating to http://mfr.mlxwireless.com/ and entering your Member ID and passcode. You will need your Tokencode, so you’ll need to remember to carry your login key with you. Once you’re logged on, you can find everything you need from the front page – the Top Menu. Your options from the Top Menu include the 24 Hour Hotsheet, Quick Search, Full Search and Roster Search. The Help & About tab will bring you to a comprehensive Help and Documentation section where you can get all the information that you need.
If you need more help than is available online, you can get it.
You can get live help from a wireless expert by calling 1-866-304-0080 toll-free.

The Roster Search is a quick and easy way to find agent and office roster data. Need to find out who’s representing a property? Who’s covering for another agent? Need to find a particular sales associate in a different city? You can search agent and office roster data by name, office and city to come up with the information you need in seconds.
Search the listings several different ways.
You can search all MLS listings by property type, by area, by zip code, price or address. You can email the listing directly to them from your cell phone through the MLX Wireless interface.
