Are your Nerves Dead?
We have an ongoing joke in our family. When we are eating a meal and one of us has a piece of food on their face, we look at them and ask, "Are your nerves dead?" Of course, this is very funny to us and others may not fully understand it. Nerves are a funny thing. They let us know that we are alive. We feel pain, touch and stress.
The word nervous stems from nerves. The online etymology dictionary describes nervous as, "Meaning "suffering disorder of the nervous system". When we get nervous, we sweat, we feel the need for a restroom and we can also feel nauseous.
When it comes to new Realtors, nervousness is a natural thing. The feeling that, "What if I screw up" is always present. When I started in Real Estate, I remember people telling me that buying a house is the largest purchase these people will make in their lives. Oh my. Before real Estate, the most I had ever sold anything for was $25.00 for an old bike at a garage sale and now I was being asked to broker a deal for them for $300,000. If that doesn't make one nervous, nothing will.
The corelation between successful agents and ones that don't make it is the speed at which they get over this nervousness. There are Realtors who are in the business for 20 years and are nervous by nature. At Real Living Real Estate Solutions, we spend time with our agents doing Role Play and asking the questions that our customers may ask. Knowledge is the key. The more an agent learns, the more confident they will feel delivering the best service possible.
There are many new agents out there who just need a little push of confidence to get them started. Training is the key to make this happen!

Good training and knowing that it is okay to ask stupid questions is the key to make an agen comfortable. As my mother keeps telling me, it's all in the tone.
