If it ain't a Broker's Open, Fix it!
In the old days..way before I got into Real Estate, the story goes that Broker's Open Houses were filled with agents wanting to see the houses and inventory on the market. If they were lucky, maybe there was a small paper cup, and they could fill that with some luke warm tap water.
Today's Broker Opens are filled with food, drink, entertainment and more. Cash Prizes, Gift Certificates, Music all add to the splashes of color, smells and decor that make that house POP when agents walk through the doors.
I have the benefit of working with Tony Marino. He has been in the Orlando market for the last 6 years and has made a name for himself doing everything "the right way". He held a Broker's Open today with a series of 4 homes total. He had the main course.
It was very interesting to go from the 1st house, which served a wilted salad in a small bowl to the 2nd house, which had some great looking appetizers from Olive Garden, but the agent barely got up from her computer while we walked through, and turned out to be a good friend of the owners (bad mistake), Tony's house was the 3rd one. It was a vacant house and Tony was in the Kitchen wearing his Real Living Red Polo Shirt. (He felt that if he was working with pasta and red sauces, red would be fitting). He had hot water boiling on the stove, huge containers with meatballs as big as your hand, Lasagna, Spaghetti and Bread Sticks from the Olive Garden. It was a feast for the eyes and the stomach. (I'll have the side salad please)
The last house of 4 was a very upbeat agent and had a nice looking tray of desserts. When you visited all 4 houses and got your card signed, you were in a drawing for a $100 gift certificate. (I didn't win!) The total count of agents was about 12. 12 agents?
What is wrong with Agents these days? Free food, free gifts, seeing the inventory. I feel that if we offered free food and prizes to the public, they would flock to the houses.
