The No Show Factor

Whatever happened to the old days where people were responsible? It seems as if the latest trend is to make an appointment for an interview and then simply not show up at the designated time. Oh my..."I've changed my mind", "My Dog ate the directions" or "I did not realize that I actually had to market myself". Any of these would be fine. Sometimes as brokers, we are left feeling sad and alone with no closure and like our teenage years of dating, we often wonder, "was it something I said or did" and could I have done more?

Agents who are new to the industry often do not know what it is involved in selling Real estate. "I love looking at houses" is one we all have gotten and "I am a people person". Really? Well, where have you been? Clearly Real Estate includes both houses and people but finding the right person for your company can often be a daunting task. Some companies believe that any warm body will do. If we get in 100-200 agents and only a small portion sell, then we will be successful. It is the discriminating companies that want the right person who will be that piece of clay ready for molding into a selling machine.

Whether new to the industry or an experienced agent, all it takes is the right mix of drive, personality and company tools in order to make that person successful. But first, we have got to get them to the interview!
