2007 Insurance reform review
Blogging
Due to the amendment of recent Florida state insurance laws, your clients are now able to customize the type of coverage they need. The changes give home owners the opportunity to opt out of various categories of coverage they feel are unnecessary or are not relevant to their needs, saving money in the process.
Home owners are now able to reduce their rates by excluding their insurance policies from:
- Windstorm insurance coverage;
- Personal contents coverage;
- Sinkhole coverage;
- Personally adding windstorm coverage (garage door, windows, and door opening protections), strengthening the roof, and notifying their insurance company of these improvements;
- Replacing their current deductible at the time of policy renewal; and
- Choosing quarterly or semi-annual installments for their premium payments.
